HDMI Tip

Summary

HDMI is a type of cable used to transmit digital data. HDMI cables are used with digital TV systems. For example they are used to hook up a digital TV to a DVD player or a Blu-ray player.

Save Money

HDMI cables will cost at least $50 in a retail store. That is mainly because electronic stores make most of their money from selling accessories.

You can save LOTS of money by ordering your HDMI cables online. The quality of the cable does NOT matter since it used to carry a digital signal.

Why doesn't cable quality matter with digital signal?

Why doesn't quality matter with a digital signal? Because a digital signal is digital information that is going to be decoded by a computer and then displayed. All that is being sent through the cable is 1's and 0's. A digital signal is an ALL or NOTHING deal. You either get all the information and display it or you don't and NOTHING is display. So if a cheap $5 cable can transfer the digital data it will show just as good a picture as a $1,000 gold plated cable.

Note: The only time cable quality matters for HDMI cables is for really long cable runs. For cables under 20 feet long, just go with a cheap one.
